GJ graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film and Audio-Visual Communication. The film she produced for her undergraduate thesis was awarded Best Thesis by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). She then worked in advertising before becoming a SYLFF Fellow in 2003. She is currently working on her Master’s Degree in Anthropology and specializes in ethnography. Few people know that GJ began talking at the rather late age of 2, but she did so in complete sentences. GJ also has a knack for arts and crafts and her friends and family are proud owners of her handmade gifts.
